The safari starts with getting in a large 4 wheel drive and going off-road. It is often described as a rollercoaster in the desert and is a fun-filled adventure ride. Yes, it can be little scary but it is totally safe as you will be in hands of very skilled drivers. Just hold on and enjoy the ride where the driver whips you around the beautiful red sand dunes, staggering on the edge of sharp drops, before sliding down sandy slopes and then going back up again.
One of the best parts of any off-roading experience is simply stopping in the middle of the desert to take some incredible sunset photos. If you feel even more adventurous, you can rent some quad bikes or buggies. And that’s what I did. Did you know that some of the dune buggies can reach the max speed of 120 km/h?
After the dune bashing with jeeps, buggies and quad bikes we arrived at a bedouin camp where an Arabic buffet dinner awaits. There where a few shows during the Arabic style bbq dinner. First one is the belly dance show. And I also jumped on this opportunity to learn some moves from a professional belly dancer. Unfortunately, I don’t think I succeeded, but at least it was so much fun. The second show of the night was an energetic and colorful tanoura dance, which is distinguished by the use of a multicolored skirt.
I would say, that a desert safari is definitely a must-do thing if you are ever in Dubai. Please let me know if you have ever experienced a desert safari!
